Underhell Wiki

Underhell's gameplay is unique in comparison to other games and mods. Instead of limiting itself to only one category, Underhell varries it's gameplay by combining multiple categories, such as being a shooter, puzzle, adventure, survival, and horror.

The House: Gameplay[]

Introduction[]

The House is the most popular and well known department in Underhell, serving as a hub for Underhell. A place for the player to hang out before or after completing a chapter. Featuring many unique elements that stand out versus many modifications for games, such as a day and night cycle. The main purpose for The House however, is to uncover the backstory behind the protagonist, Jake Hawkfield, as well as the mystery surrounding His Wife. Not all mysteries can be unlocked on the first day however. The House seperates itself into multiple stages, each stage delivering it's own version of The House. Giving it's own theme, atmosphere, and objectives.

Objectives[]

The Player is given a goal to complete a set of task in order to proceed to the next stage of The House. This set of task involve finding Items, interacting with Objects, and solving puzzles. Once all the tasks has been completed, including the main story's chapter for the current stage of The House, the Player can choose to go to sleep and enter the next stage of The House.

Sandbox[]

Even if the player has or has not completed all the tasks for the current stage of The House. The Player can pass the time by uncovering more backstory for Underhell, such as receiving mail, emails, or even phone calls. The House consist of a randomized system that requires paitience to experience everything.

Horror[]

To compliment The House's sandbox and randomized nature. The House contains a random scare system that triggers once certain conditions are met. As stated before, this is a random scare system, even if all conditions are met to trigger a scare, it would trigger at random. These scares are sometimes subtle or straight forward. On rare events, these scares would blacken the screen causing the player to wake up from his bed.

Dreams[]

Given the fact that The Player can choose to go to sleep, The Player would enter a dream sequence. This dream sequence features a set of doors within a corridor. Each door contains a certain function, consisting of the following; Wake up, Advance to the next stage of The House, Nightmares.

Nightmares[]

The Nightmares is a set of dreams that require The Player to overcome a set of obstacles to reach the white light. As a reward for reaching the white light, The Player gets to view a fragment of his past life.
